Atomic Typo is run by Jenny Messenger, a journalist and writer from the north of England.

The name “Atomic Typo” means a typographical error that creates a different, but legitimate, word and so isn’t picked up by a spell checker: “massage” instead of “message”, for example. I like its implicit suggestion that human editors are still essential, as well as the fact that it calls to mind both ancient Greek atomism and quantum mechanics!

I have seven years of proofreading and copyediting experience, and I was awarded a Rising Star Award by the Printing Charity in 2021, which I’ve used to develop my editorial project management skills.

My own work as a writer helps me to better understand the perspectives of the authors I work with, and I really enjoy working collaboratively with clients. Though I specialise in the academic disciplines of Classics, Ancient Philosophy, and English Literature, I’m interested in a wide range of nonfiction and fiction.
